Caernarfon Castle
One of the many Castle built by King Edward I, along the north Wales Coast, to keep the native welsh in check. Caernarfon Castle was designed as a royal palace and seat of Government for north Wales. In fact the first English Prince of Wales was born here in 1284. A lot bigger than a lot of the Castles and again the old town is found inside the walls that surround the castle

Centre for Alternative Technology, Machynlleth
A Little bit further away but well worth the visit. probable best place in the UK for alternative technology. From straw bale houses to solar panels, wind turbines, water turbines environmentally responsible building, energy conservation, organic growing and composting. there are also plenty of hands on display and not to mention a very good whole food cafe. If you are thinking of doing anything to your house worth visiting here first. Although a little far from our hostel they do offer a schools programme which can cater to your needs.
